Underwood joins Bellefonte Primary Care
SOUTH SHORE, Ky. -- Zachary Underwood, D.O., has joined Bellefonte Primary Care in South Shore (U.S. 23 at Indianola Ave.) and is providing family care services at the facility.
Underwood is a graduate of the Pike-ville College School of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Ky. He conducted both his residency and internship at Southern Ohio Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association. An area native, Underwood is a graduate of Greenup County High School and the University of Kentucky.
Bellefonte Primary Care in South Shore has an on-site laboratory, X-ray equipment and a team of medical professionals and technicians.

Phillips named medical peer review coordinator at St. Mary's
HUNTINGTON -- Patty Phillips, RN, has accepted the position of medical peer review coordinator at St. Mary's Medical Center. Phillips oversees the Quality Performance Monitoring Committee, which evaluates and monitors the quality of care provided to patients and the clinical performance of staff and physicians. The committee works to improve patient satisfaction by reviewing concerns through a peer review process. Phillips also assists in the credentialing process for new physicians and staff.
Phillips has worked at St. Mary's for 13 years and earned her nursing degree from St. Mary's School of Nursing. Her previous experience includes terms as DRG (diagnosis-related group) coordinator and supervisor of coding, emergency department billing and clinical documentation. Phillips has two grown children and resides in Chesapeake, Ohio, with her husband, Mike.
Phillips, Goff pass radiologic certification
HUNTINGTON -- Kimberly Phillips, R.T.(R)(CI)(ARRT) and Tara Goff, R.T.(R)(CI)(ARRT), radiologic technologists in the cardiac catheterization lab, have passed their certification exams through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. The certification promotes high standards of patient care in interventional cardiac procedures. Phillips and Goff have worked in the cath lab for eight and seven years, respectively. Phillips resides in Huntington with her husband, and Goff lives in Proctorville, Ohio, with her husband and three children.
Shah joins Holzer Clinic in Gallipolis
GALLIPOLIS, Ohio -- Holzer Clinic has hired board certified radiation oncologist Vinod H. Shah, M.D., for its multi-specialty group practice. Shah, practicing at the Holzer Center for Cancer Care in Gallipolis, is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of all forms of cancer and performs advanced therapies including, but not limited to, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Shah received his medical degree from the Grant Medical College in Bombay, India, and completed residencies at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas; Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago, Ill.; St. Elizabeth Hospital in Chicago; and St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Chicago.
Shah is certified in therapeutic radiology by the American Board of Radiology. He is a member of the American College of Radiology, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, the American Medical Association and the American Brachytherapy Society. Shah also has served as the chairman of the Radiation Safety Committee at St. Francis Medical Center and St. Francis Cranberry in Pittsburgh.

Moore, Law, Winger, Boshell, Crisp join KDMC
ASHLAND, Ky. -- Radiologist Scott Moore, M.D.; vascular/endovascular surgeon Brandon Law, M.D.; and family physician Cynthia Winger, M.D., have joined the medical staff at King's Daughters Medical Center (KDMC). Also new at the hospital are interventional radiologist Hunter Boshell, M.D.; family physician Charlene Crisp, M.D.; and hospitalist Vivekananda Datla, M.D.
Moore completed medical school (2004) and an internship (2005) at the Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington. He continued his medical education by finishing a residency at the University of Massachusetts, Worcester, Mass. (2009); and a fellowship at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, Richmond, Va. (2010).
Moore will be practicing with Tri-State Radiology.
Law is a 2001 medical school graduate of the National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland. He continued his medical education by completing an internship (2002) and residency (2008) at East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C.; as well as a fellowship (2010) at the Loma Linda University Medical Center, Loma Linda, Calif.

Winger is a 1983 medical school graduate of the West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown. She continued her medical education by completing a residency at the Kanawha Valley Family Practice Center, located at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, W.Va. (1986). Hotiana joins Cabell Huntington Hospital, MU
HUNTINGTON -- The endocrinology team at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and Cabell Huntington Hospital have recently added a sixth physician specialist for patients with diabetes.
Mateen M. Hotiana, MD, a fellowship-trained endocrinologist, recently joined the medical staffs at Cabell Huntington Hospital and the Department of Internal Medicine at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine.
Hotiana completed his fellowship training in endocrinology at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and earned his medical degree at the Allama Iqbal Medical College, University of the Punjab in Pakistan. Hotiana joins the endocrinology team that specializes in diabetes care at the Bruce S. Chertow, MD, Diabetes Center in the Erma Ora Byrd Clinical Center located one block from Cabell Huntington Hospital.
The Diabetes Center recently expanded to accommodate more patients in a timely fashion and to expand the educational opportunities for patients with diabetes. Now with added technology and six exam rooms, the Diabetes Center offers comprehensive services in patient education for nutrition, diabetes medication and lifestyle planning to help with diabetes management.

Steve Call renews Sandals credentials
IRONTON, Ohio -- Travel consultant Steve Call has recently renewed his Certified Sandals Specialist (CSS) certification by attending a training program sponsored by Sandals and Beaches Resorts.

Cosco gets management positions with Frontier Communications
CHARLESTON -- Scott Cosco, director of intergovernmental affairs and constituent services for the West Virginia Governor's Office, has taken a new job with the private sector. Cosco will become the manager of government and regulatory affairs at Frontier Communications in West Virginia.
Jennifer Ferrell, who has served as the deputy director of constituent services for the Governor's Office, will replace Cosco as acting director. Ferrell has served for more than a decade in the constituent services division.
Cosco has been a part of the Manchin administration staff since the governor took office in 2005. In addition to making more than 2,100 appointments to boards and commissions for the governor, Cosco was named director of constituent services last September. From 2007-08, he also served as Manchin's liaison to the National Governors Association and the Southern Governors Association. Cosco was also a member of Manchin's staff during his term as secretary of state, serving as director of the West Virginia SHARES (Saving History and Reaching Every Student) Program.
Cosco earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Marshall University. He currently resides in Charleston.
