HURRICANE -- CAMC Teays Valley Hospital has received a gold seal of approval award following a Joint Commission accreditation review.

The gold seal of approval indicates that the Joint Commission, a not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States, found the hospital to be in compliance with performance standards and showing a commitment to providing quality care to patients, a hospital press release said.

The commission made an unannounced site visit in April to survey the hospital. The award of accreditation is now valid for up to 39 months.

"We are very proud of our accomplishments thus far as a new hospital," said Albert Michaels, president and CEO. "Maintaining the patient-focused culture of safety and quality care is our priority not only during times of survey but also each day."
