Only four West Virginia counties reported a drop in unemployment in June as the statewide jobless rate increased four-tenths of a percentage point to 5.5 percent.
Workforce West Virginia said Friday that Morgan, Pocahontas, Randolph and Webster counties all reported decreases from May's unemployment rates.
The rate in Wayne County rose from 5.6 percent in May to 6.1 percent in June, and in Putnam County the rate was up slightly from 4.1 percent in May to 4.3 percent in June.
Monongalia County had the lowest unemployment rate in June with 4 percent. Pocahontas County's 8.9 percent jobless rate was the highest but it dropped from 11.6 percent in May.
