Ann Bryant: Passion for design becomes a business
HUNTINGTON -- Sally Weiler has a true passion for design, and that passion is contagious. She shares her excitement and love for her products and work with everyone who comes through the doors of her shops.
"It is my passion," she said. "I love being here."
After working informally to help friends and family with decorating and design, Weiler decided it was time to embrace her passion and training by starting her own business. She began Sally Weiler Designs and started slowly by just doing designs. But her experience and talent has made her business blossom.
She moved from her home to open her first shop and give herself more room to work and to offer unique products for her clients, but the retail aspect of her business soon was crowding the small shop space.
As a mother of four, Weiler had been adding more and more children's items, which were helping to crowd her shop. In September she decided to give the children's items and design its own separate business and she opened Four Kids, in a shop space around the corner from her first one.
Her passion is design, but the products she offers are dear to her as well.
"Everything I put in here is a reflection of me," Weiler said.
Truly loving what she has accomplished, Weiler is excited about her plans for the future. In her quest to help offer unique items for her customers, Weiler has searched out and found a wide array of items that she will begin offering in January.
They include everything from clothing for children in sizes 0 to 6 that matches the bedroom decor themes she already offers to a full line of different European crafted toys.
Weiler already offers a wide selection of items for the home, such as art work, furniture and linens, as well as many gift items, including stationary, robes, hand-painted Christmas ornaments and monogrammed jewelry just to name a few.
For Weiler, making sure it is unique and well made is paramount.
But it is not just more products on the horizon, Weiler is ready to expand again, and when a suitable location becomes available she will be taking it, she said. Weiler is also planning to offer a Web site where people can order online and have items shipped directly to them anywhere, even internationally, Weiler said.
Sally Weiler Designs and Four Kids are located at 210 11th Street in Heritage Station. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. For more information on the services Weiler offers, call (304) 781-8687
