Local company celebrates Steel Day this year

The is the fourth year the plant has recognized the national event, in which more than 10,000 people participate annually, said Mark Trimble, director of marketing at Huntington Steel. His company usually has 30 to 50 participants, he said.
In recognition of the event Friday, Huntington Steel provided tours of the plant on 3rd Avenue and offered a continuing education opportunity for professionals whose jobs might involve steel, such as engineers and architects. The company also tried something new this year -- Steel Day Olympics, in which participants got a chance to try working with steel like the crew at the plant.
