Jenkins Fenstermaker named to 'Best Lawyers'
HUNTINGTON -- Jenkins Fenstermaker, PLLC, a Huntington based law firm has six attorneys who recently were selected by their peers for inclusion in the 2011 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.
They include: Stephen J. Golder, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions law and real estate law; Lee Murray Hall, insurance coverage; Brian S. Lindsay, mass tort litigation; Thomas E. Scarr, commercial litigation, and labor and employment law; Robert H. "Bo" Sweeney Jr., mass tort litigation; and Barry M. Taylor, medical malpractice law.
First published in 1983, Best Lawyers is based on an annual peer-review survey. For the new U.S. edition, more than 50 percent of the lawyers listed in Best Lawyers cast more than 3.1 million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in the same and related specialties.

Copley joins Catlettsburg Family Care Center
CATLETTSBURG, Ky. -- Family physician Sandra Copley, M.D., has joined the medical staff at King's Daughters Medical Center.
A native of West Virginia, Dr. Copley completed medical school (1990) and a residency (1993) at the Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington.
She is seeing patients and accepting new patients at the Catlettsburg Family Care Center at 4004 Louisa Road in Catlettsburg. It can be reached at 606-739-6095. The Family Care Center is open from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Copley joins Anna Patton, M.D., practicing family medicine at the Catlettsburg Family Care Center.
Regional Council for RESA 2 announced
HUNTINGTON -- RESA 2's executive director, Dee Cockrille, has announced the 2010-2011 Regional Council for RESA 2.
The 2010-2011 RESA 2 Regional Advisory Council members are William Smith and Bennie Thomas of Cabell County, David Roach and Carol Smith of Lincoln County, Wilma Zigmond and Phyllis Adkins of Logan County, Suzanne Dickens and Dale Shobe of Mason County, Randy Keathley and Jackie Branch of Mingo County, and Gary Adkins and Katie Carey of Wayne County.
At large members are Sandra Pertee of Wayne, Dora Chaffin of Kermit, Ryan Saxe of Hamlin and Victoria Smith of Huntington. Representing the WVDOE is Chuck Heinlein and Rudy Pauley of Marshall University (MU) Graduate College will serve as MU's council member.
Headquartered in Huntington, RESA 2 provides educational enhancement resources for students, teachers and the public in Cabell, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Mingo and Wayne counties.
Each of the six counties that comprise RESA 2 is represented by its superintendent of schools and one board of education member. The advisory council also consists of one instructional leader, school principal, teacher and representative of the West Virginia Department of Education as an ex-officio, non-voting member as well as a representative from higher education.
Bellefonte's Thomas published in Journal of Holistic Nursing
Jeani C. Thomas, DNP, RN, FNP-BC, Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital's, director of nursing, has been published in the Journal of Holistic Nursing.
Thomas was primary author of the research piece "Self-Transcendence, Spiritual Well-Being, and Spiritual Practices of Women with Breast Cancer" which appeared in the June 2010 issue of the Journal of Holistic Nursing. The Journal of Holistic Nursing has documented integrating holistic health concepts with traditional Western medicine for more than 20 years. The peer-reviewed journal promotes holism-a state of harmony among body, mind, emotions, and spirit -and nursing's function within that environment.
Thomas has been an employee at the hospital for 13 years, serving in the Bellefonte Primary Care system, with the OLBH Mobile Health Center, and as a hospital service line leader for Pediatrics, Women's Health, and Oncology. Thomas received her national certification as a family nurse practitioner and her doctorate of nursing at Case Western Reserve University. She obtained her bachelor's degree from Morehead State University in 1990 and is a graduate of Marshall University's School of Nursing with a masters of science in nursing. She resides in Huntington.
Markins recipient of OLBH 'Good Help Award'
RUSSELL, Ky. -- Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital representatives have announced Judy Markins as the hospital's third quarter Good Help Award recipient for 2010.
Markins works in Bellefonte's outpatient infusion area and has been employed at the hospital for 20 years. Prior to serving in the infusion area, Markins worked in a variety of roles at the hospital, including stints in Medical Records, ER, Dietary, ICU and the Bellefonte Behavioral Health Center. She resides in South Shore, Ky.
Initiated by Bon Secours Health System, Inc., the Good Help Award is presented quarterly to an employee who shows respect and caring toward patients, co-workers and visitors. The employee should be a person of honesty and integrity and one who demonstrates justice, stewardship and innovation.
As the third quarter Good Help award winner, Markins is in contention for the overall Dedicated Service Award winner chosen annually from the hospital's four quarterly Good Help Award recipients. The recipient of the Dedicated Service Award receives a cash prize and a paid trip for two to Baltimore to attend an awards banquet to honor the overall Bon Secours Health System Good Help Award winner.
Lamp, O'Dell named 'Super Lawyers,' Perry selected as 'Rising Star'

HURRICANE -- L. Frank Ball of Hurricane has joined Horace Mann Insurance Company as an exclusive agent. Ball will serve educators in Putnam, Wayne, Lincoln and Cabell County Schools in West Virginia and in Ohio the schools districts in Lawrence County.

Jordan joins W.Va. American Water
CHARLESTON - West Virginia American Water welcomes Laura Jordan as its new external affairs manager. Jordan takes over for Kelley Gillenwater, who was recently promoted to Internal Communications manager after serving in the external affairs role for two years. Jordan comes to West Virginia American Water from the YWCA of Charleston, where she served as director of Marketing and Communication.
In her new role, Jordan will lead all aspects of West Virginia American Water's external communications efforts. She will work closely with the management team to develop communications planning, including coordination of media communications, as well as community and customer outreach efforts.
