Moses Body Shop opens at former Chrysler location
Moses AutoMall of Huntington has opened a new body shop and collision center in the home of the old Tri-State Chrysler Body Shop, and it's going green in the process, according to a release from the dealership.
The collision center recently opened using a new painting system that has fewer emissions of volatile organic compounds, or "VOCs." It's a low-VOC waterborne basecoat made by PPG, verses the conventional solvent-based painting system, the release said.
"This move further helps us do our part to improve the quality of our air and contribute to an overall healthier work environment," Jason Moses, executive manager of Moses AutoMall, said in the release.
Moses Body Shop is located at 5200 U.S. 60 East in Huntington, near the 29th Street exit of Interstate 64. The facility repairs and paints all vehicle makes and models.
"VOCs are chemical compounds commonly used in paint coatings and cleaning products. When released into the atmosphere they help create ozone and smog," the release from Moses AutoMall said. It said PPG's Envirobase High Performance paint can reduce basecoat-sourced emissions by up to 80 percent, when comparing it to a conventional, solvent-borne basecoat.
Also, waterborne color toners make it easier to match a vehicle's original finish, Jason Moses said. They also dry faster, which means that customers should get their cars back quicker, said Joel Goldy, Moses vice president who will be manager of the new body shop.
"With a lot of dealers closing right now, it's a great time to be expanding and offering additional services for our customers," Goldy said. "It's worked out wonderfully for everybody."
The body shop can work on any make and model of vehicle, he said.
