HUNTINGTON -- Louis Fred Williams, Esq., CPA, a partner with the firm of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC, has been elected president of the Huntington Chapter of the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants for the 2009-10 year.
Other officers serving with Williams: John R. "Rick" Montgomery, Mandy Hill, Eliott R. "Eli" Wilson, John Hill and Akia Fannin.
The West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants is committed to uniting the accounting profession in the state and providing up-to-date communications and learning opportunities to its members.
Jackson joins RCBI staff as technical trainer
HUNTINGTON -- The Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI) has added Ashley T. Jackson to its staff at the Huntington Advanced Technology Center as a technical trainer.
A 1993 graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School, he attended Ashland (Ky.) Community College in 1994 and 1995. Jackson began his career as a machinist with Mullins Brothers Machine Shop, Huntington, in 1997. He later worked with Pilgrim Glass Corp. in Ceredo, Southern Ohio Machine & Fabrication in Chesapeake, Ohio, and Industrial Machine & Fabrication, Huntington. Prior to joining RCBI he worked at the Allevard Sogefi auto suspensions plant at Prichard for the past five years.
"Ashley Jackson is not a stranger to RCBI," Ms. Weber said. "When he was employed at Mullins Brothers he spent a great deal of time at RCBI as that company took advantage of the opportunity to lease use of our advanced manufacturing equipment. Later, he introduced the Pilgrim Glass Corp. management to the resources RCBI has available and they made very effective use of that equipment. He's a great addition to our training staff."
Jackson and his wife, Traci, live at Prichard with their daughters, Shelby and Carley.
Wilson, Hamra join IntelliPoint's staff
BARBOURSVILLE -- IntelliPoint Technologies, a Microsoft-certified accounting software company, has added two new employees to its staff.
Derek Wilson has joined the Information Technology department as a support consultant. Wilson is a Marshall University graduate with an associate's degree in Applied Science Information Technology and has seven years experience in IT. Wilson is certified in Windows Server OS for Microsoft systems.
Nasha Hamra has joined the staff as an accounting applications software consultant. Hamra has 29 years of experience in the computer software programming field. Hamra's specific areas of software experience include construction, accounting and point of sale.
Coriell, Carroll and Collins hit five-year mark
PRICHARD -- OKUNO International Inc. just recognized employees who have reached five years of service. Those recognized included Terry Coriell, Hank Carroll and Josh Collins.
OKUNO International manufactures various hydraulic cylinders for forklifts and is located in the A. Michael Perry Industrial Park in Prichard.
Midland Meadows names employees of the quarter
Cindy Poston and Jessica Jeffrey have been honored as employees of the quarter this year at Midland Meadows.
Poston is a licensed practical nurse who has been there one year, after being trained at the Cabell County Career Technical Center. Poston said she enjoys working at Midland Meadows "because of the people. The residents are great, cheerful and full of life." She added that her co-workers seem like a family.
She resides in Barboursville with her husband, Will Poston, and a daughter.
Jeffrey is a resident assistant who has been at Midland Meadows about a year and a half. Jeffrey graduated from Guyan Valley High School, attended Marshall University and has a certificate in phlebotomy. She enjoys working at Midland Meadows because of the bonding with residents and co-workers. She grew up in West Hamlin and resides in Lesage.
Collins joins HIMG Regional Medical Center
HUNTINGTON -- Dr. Michael Collins has joined the practice in the HIMG Regional Medical Center.
Collins completed his undergraduate studies at Marshall University in 1997 and went on to receive his degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002. His internship was conducted at the Charleston Area Medical Center and completed in 2003. He recently completed a fellowship in Nephrology at The Ohio State University.
A member of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Collins is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and will focus on adolescents and adults in the area of nephrology, alongside Dr. Dev Rellan and the entire team at HIMG.
HIMG is a multi-specialty group practice with more than 60 physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners including primary care, medical subspecialties and general surgery.
Holzer elects Saunders to replace Tope as CEO
GALLIPOLIS, Ohio - Holzer Consolidated Health Systems has elected Gallia County attorney Brent Saunders to replace President and CEO Thomas E. Tope, who has resigned. Tope had served as president and CEO since October 2001.
Saunders has served on the Holzer boards for several years, most recently as chairman of the Board for Holzer Medical Center-Gallipolis and Holzer Medical Center-Jackson.
During Tope's tenure, Holzer Consolidated Health Systems made strides to improve the level of care and access to services for the communities it serves. It forged partnerships with Holzer Clinic to establish the Holzer Cardiovascular Institute and the Holzer Center for Cancer Care.
Tope's tenure also includes the establishment of Holzer Weight Loss Solutions; expansion of the Long Term Care/Home Care Division and the establishment of a Dental Clinic in the former Ball Building in Jackson, Ohio.
"Mr. Tope has a long, distinguished history with the Holzer system," said Alan Stockmeister, chairman of the Board of Holzer Consolidated Health Systems. "Many of the capital improvements and expansion of services implemented under the leadership of Mr. Tope will benefit our patients for many years. I am sure his contributions to our communities will continue in the future."

Whitaker-LeMay, Talbert join staff at SarahCare
Registered nurse Ted Talbert and geriatric social worker B.J. Whitaker-LeMay have joined the staff of SarahCare Adult Day Services, an adult day center and home care provider.
Talbert is an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and graduate of Marshall University. He retired from the state of West Virginia with 30 years of service in nursing care.
Whitaker-LeMay graduated from the University of Niagra in Niagra, N.Y. She's a member of the West Virginia and National Silver Haired Legislature and has been a longtime advocate for seniors in Cabell County and the state. She has worked in the fields of mental health and geriatrics and spent eight years working for the Huntington Housing Authority.
