Goodwill to offer Microsoft Word training course
MICROSOFT WORD: Goodwill Industries will begin a new four-week course on Microsoft Word, beginning 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 6. The entire course costs $100. It will include typing and editing text; working with fonts, font colors and size; how to copy and paste; enhancing documents; using clip art, tables, templates for brochures, flyers, etc. and how to use Mail Merge to send out mass mailings. Classes will be held in Goodwill's Computer Lab at 1005 Virginia Ave., Huntington, and is limited to 10 students. A+ LEADERSHIP: A+ Strategy Leadership Training is a 12-hour course that teaches the importance of self-leadership. This course aims to teach participants how to develop strong leadership skills. The text for the course is filled with group activities, mission and vision development, effective communication, self discovery and more. The first day of class is from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, April 13, at Unlimited Future, 1650 8th Ave., Huntington. The course will run four Tuesdays, ending May 4. OSHA CONSTRUCTION: An OSHA 10-hour Construction course will be presented by the West Virginia Division of Labor from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, April 21 and 22, in Charleston. The course is a two-day seminar intended to provide a variety of construction safety and health training to workers of all levels. The training will cover fall protection, electrical and other hazards, lifesaving equipment, hazard communication, stairways and ladders. An additional four-plus hours of instruction will include hand and power tools, scaffolds and excavations and trenching. Successful completion will result in the issuance of a certificate and a 10-hour OSHA card. Cost is $49 per person, and pre-registration is required. LIFE SKILLS TRAINING: Goodwill Industries, in partnership with the Weed and Seed Program at Barnett Center, is offering ongoing free classes on a variety of skills needed to help navigate life. The classes will include information on how to search and apply for a job, how to manage your money, where to find community resources and tips on housekeeping, maintaining good health and more.
Classes are offered from 9:30 a.m. to noon each Monday, Wednesday and Friday and from 4 to 6 p.m. Mondays.
Any adult 18 or older may enroll for the classes at the Barnett Center, 1524 10th Ave. in Huntington or by contacting the Life Skills Trainer and asking for Staci Green at 304-523-7461 or sgreen@goodwillhunting.org. Enrollment is ongoing.
