HR workshop set for Sept. 13 at technical college

HUMAN RESOURCES: Kanawha Valley Community and Technical College will offer a Human Resource Certification Preparation workshop in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management. This program will provide an opportunity for human resource professionals to document their knowledge and skills. The training program will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays, Sept. 13; Oct. 18; Nov. 1, 15, 22; and Dec. 6 and 13.

The registration fee of $1,199 provides six SHRM Learning System Manuals, a Learning System CD ROM, access to the online SHRM Learning System Resource Center, practice tests including more than 1,500 questions, instructor handouts and 48 hours of classroom instruction. Students may also register to receive three hours of college credit or SHRM recertification hours.

SKIN CARE REVISITED: An interactive workshop is planned for 10 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, to provide licensed aestheticians, cosmetologists and barbers with skin care information to enhance their practice and knowledge base in regard to client care and management. Topics will include sanitation, facial techniques, intradermal cosmetics (permanent makeup) and recognition of skin disorders.

It will be offered at Resolutions2, at 62 Perry Winkle Lane off Merritts Creek Road near Barboursville.

Four credit hours are offered to meet the State of West Virginia Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists continuing education relicensure requirements for 2014.

Instructors include Toni Karle, licensed cosmetologist and aesthetician, professional registered nurse in West Virginia; Shari Messinger, who is intradermal cosmetics certified; and Jenny Moosa, professional registered nurse in West Virginia.
