La Famiglia restaurant expands hours, dining

Jul. 19, 2013 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- The family-owned Italian restaurant La Famiglia is back open this week after a summer break, serving freshly made wood-fired pizzas, pasta specials, pastries, wine, beer and more.

Run by retired businessman Ralph Hagy, his wife, Terri, and two sons, Joseph and Jordan Hagy, La Famiglia serves Southern Italian fare and has grown in a number of ways since it opened in 2011 at 1327 6th Ave. Along with extending its hours, it has an upstairs dining room that is available for meetings and private parties, as well as additional seating when there is spill-over from the dining room.

The restaurant sources flour and tomatoes from Naples, Italy, cheese from Rome, meats from the Bronx, N.Y., fresh veggies from the garden in the front yard and "anything else we can source locally, we do," Ralph Hagy said.

For lunch, the restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. For dinner, the restaurant opens at 5 p.m. and stays open until 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and until 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It's closed Sunday and Monday.
