Cabell's Home Health Department honored

HUNTINGTON -- Cabell Huntington Hospital's Home Health Department has received national recognition for a fourth consecutive year.

The Home Health Department was named one of the 2009 Homecare Elite Top 500 home health agencies in the nation, according to a press release. Cabell Huntington is just one of 532 to be recognized four years in a row.

Home health agencies are reviewed on their quality of care, quality improvement and financial performance as it relates to Medicare certified agencies.

Cabell Huntington Hospital's Home Health Department provides care in patients' home environment. The Home Health Department provides skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, personal care, medical social service and home infusion.

King's Daughters Oncology Services re-accredited

ASHLAND, Ky. -- King's Daughters Oncology Services has earned three-year accreditation from the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer.

The accreditation came with commendation in the category of Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program, a release said.

The program is led by radiation oncologist Jeffrey Lopez, M.D., who serves as cancer committee chair; radiation oncologist Terry Justice, M.D., the general tumor board chair; general surgeon Mary Legenza, M.D., the cancer committee liaison and breast tumor board chair; oncologist/hematologist David Goebel, medical director of oncology; and pulmonologist Bjorn Thorarinsson, M.D., the thoracic tumor board chair. KDMC's oncology program has earned accreditation continuously since 1994.
