Business court symposium planned in Charleston

Jan. 04, 2013 @ 12:00 AM

CHARLESTON -- The West Virginia Chamber of Commerce will hold the inaugural Business Court Symposium on Tuesday, Jan. 22, in Charleston.

The event will highlight the benefits of the state's new business court, which has been created to streamline legal actions between business entities. The symposium will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the offices of Jackson Kelly PLLC, located at 500 Lee Street, Suite 1600.

West Virginia Supreme Court Justice Robin Jean Davis will be the event's keynote speaker. Davis has served on the Supreme Court since 2001 and was recently re-elected to a second 12-year term on the court.

In addition to her keynote address, Business Court Judges Christopher Wilkes (Chief) and James H. Young Jr. have accepted invitations to attend. The remaining Business Court Judges, James J. Rowe and Donald H. Cookman, are tentatively planning to attend pending their trial schedules.

Cost for attending is $30 per person. Reservations can be made to Kim Nelson at knelson@wvchamber.com or by calling 304-342-1115.
