Gallia County firm buys Bob Evans facility

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Bob Evans Farms Inc. Wednesday reported that it has sold its former transportation center in Bidwell, Ohio, to Foster Sales & Delivery, a distribution company based in Gallia County.

Bob Evans announced in May it would move its trucking operations to Springfield, Ohio, to be closer to its distribution center.

Southern States reports on holiday food drive

The 2012 Southern States Holiday Food Drive collected nearly two-and-a-half tons of canned, boxed and other stable food items for food banks and charitable organizations in 36 cities and towns in the company's south and mid-Atlantic regions.

The farm supply and service cooperative, which is based in Richmond, Va., and has several outlets in the Tri-State, conducted the drive from Nov. 12 to Dec. 16. It said the collections were delivered to various community organizations and groups for distribution to the needy.

"We are very grateful to our customers for their generosity and to our retail employees for the efforts they put in to designing the collection boxes and holiday displays," said Steve Patterson, Southern States' vice president for marketing and communications.

Marshall University Career Expo planned

HUNTINGTON -- Registration is now open for employers interested in participating in Marshall University's Spring Career Expo, planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2.

The event is an opportunity for employers to actively recruit new employees, network and building a pool of resumes for future hiring. Cost is $135 for those who register by Feb. 15. The price includes a table, lunch, parking and shuttle service for two recruiters.

Ohio logs $849 million in liquor sales for 2102

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The state says total liquor sales in Ohio climbed to a record $849 million in 2012, up 7 percent from the previous year.

The top-selling brand was again Kamchatka vodka, followed by Jack Daniels whiskey.
