HUNTINGTON -- Latta's is celebrating Neighborhood Toy Store Day from 9 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the store at 1502 4th Ave.

The celebration is in association with ASTRA, the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association.

"We hope we will attract attention to the importance of independent toy stores, not only for children and families but to their local communities," said Latta's Manager Tara Murphy. "We care about our customers and take the time to help them select just the right toy to help their child grow and learn through play."

Highlighted on Saturday at the store will be ASTRA's 2012 Best Toys for Kids. The list honors toys that deliver exceptional value and expand a child's imagination, invite discovery and encourage creativity. ASTRA's top picks are chosen by over 500 local toy store owners across the country with a deep understanding of how kids play.

None of the toys on the list is advertised on television, Murphy said.

"Foggy Dog" series author Carol A. Wolf will read and be on hand to read and sign books from noon to 2 p.m.
