Create WV Conference to be this month
Create WV conference planned for Oct. 26-27
The Create WV Conference is set for Oct. 26-27 at the Charleston House Ramada Inn Hotel and the Charleston Civic Center.
The Create WV Conference is a statewide training conference and celebration of creative, entrepreneurial communities and individuals that develop innovative economic opportunities for all West Virginia citizens.
"Create WV is different. It's a unique opportunity to engage West Virginia's thought leaders and the most innovative people in the business, arts, education, government and nonprofit communities," Skip Lineberg of Spilman Thomas and Battle PLLC, said in a press release.
New in 2012 is an opportunity to pitch an idea and win seed money in a statewide "crowd funding" contest. Also for the first time, several sessions are available on Saturday to enable more West Virginia entrepreneurs, educators and students to attend. Guests can attend part of Create WV at lower attendance prices.
Visit createwv.com for details about the conference.

Vision Shared launches initiative to support crowdfunding
The Vision Shared Entrepreneurship Committee is launching a new initiative to help entrepreneurs succeed in crowdfunding efforts through programs such as KickStarter. Crowdfunding is a collective effort of individuals who network and pool their resources, usually via the Internet, to support causes. Vision Shared has partnered with The Wild Ramp, a locally sourced food market in Huntington, to pilot the program. As part of the pilot project, Vision Shared provided a small grant to The Wild Ramp to assist with the development of the video presentation and is building a statewide network to share information about various crowdfunding efforts. The Wild Ramp will document experiences and lessons learned so that Vision Shared can provide that information to others.
