Prichard warehouse undergoing expansion

August 17, 2010 @ 12:00 AM

PRICHARD -- House-Hasson Hardware is making a $2 million expansion to its Prichard warehouse.

The 100,000-square-foot addition will bring the West Virginia warehouse to 300,000 square feet.

The project includes adding new truck dock areas and improvements to the warehouse heating system. Construction is scheduled for completion in January 2011, with Riedel-Wilks Building Structures of Huntington as the contractor.

Based in Knoxville, Tenn., House-Hasson is an independent regional hardware distributor in its 104th year of operation. It serves 17 states, the Caribbean basin and several foreign countries, and is approaching $200 million in annual sales.

After a recent $1 million, 50,000-square-foot expansion of its warehouse in Knoxville, the company will have a combined 700,000 square feet of warehouse space.

Company President Don Hasson said House-Hasson 's 2009 acquisition of distribution company Moore-Handley Inc. and customer service are the principal reasons for the expansion.

"With this expansion the West Virginia warehouse will contain all the products available through our Knoxville warehouse, making deliveries even more convenient for our customers," he said in a press release.

Already, some 15 employees were added in West Virginia since the Moore-Handley acquisition. House-Hasson absorbed the West Virginia facilities into its operations in 2009 when it purchased Persinger Supply, a home improvement products distribution company in Prichard..
