Mary Kay rewards local consultant with pink Cadillac hybrid SUV

March 24, 2011 @ 11:10 PM

HUNTINGTON -- Thirty-one years of success as a Mary Kay consultant have brought a lot of wonderful experiences to Kathy Jones' life, she says.

It also brought her an $80,000 pink car Thursday, a gift from the company.

On Thursday, she drove away from Moses Auto Mall in a new Cadillac Escalade Hybrid.

"Mary Kay treats us like queens," said Jones, a Proctorville resident who is a national director for the cosmetics company. "I tell people it's not P-I-N-K. It's F-R-E-E."

It's one of many pink vehicles she's received from Mary Kay over the years, she said. In fact, the only car she's ever bought for herself was her first car, an old Ford, she said.

The last Mary Kay car she received was a convertible, a Cadillac XLR. But the Escalade is better for carting the grandkids around, she said.

"Before I could only get one grandchild in at a time," she said.

Moses Auto probably sees two or three Mary Kay consultants or directors get pink Cadillacs per year, said Moses auto dealer Katrina Miller. However, she said it's rare to see a such a big-ticket vehicle, such as an Escalade Hybrid, presented.
