Public workers union to hold rally in Charleston

February 15, 2013 @ 10:20 PM

CHARLESTON -- Members of the West Virginia Public Workers Union, UE Local 170, will rally at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, in the lower rotunda of the State Capitol Building. The rally is to raise awareness about wages, benefits and working conditions for public workers.

Local 170 is calling for a pay increase, repeal of involuntary employee transfers, seniority rights to be extended to state workers and an increase in enforcement of the state's occupational safety and health laws for public workers. Other issues include honoring the right of public workers to have representation in meetings with management and understaffing.
