Southern States to hold annual membership meeting
HUNTINGTON -- Southern States Cooperative will review its operations at a series of local annual meetings, including the upcoming meeting for members of Southern States Huntington Cooperative Inc.
"Fiscal 2012 was an extremely challenging year for Southern States Cooperative," President and CEO Thomas R. Scribner said in a press release. "The winter of 2012 was the mildest since 1932, and the second warmest since 1895. The warm temperatures significantly impacted our earnings, as agricultural producers needed less feed related products and rural homeowners burned fewer gallons of home heating fuels."
Southern States Huntington Cooperative will have its annual membership meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, at the Cabell County Board of Education Cafeteria, 2850 5th Ave. The cooperative's management will use the meeting to report on both local and company-wide operations, as well as projected budget results for next year. Local board members will be elected and retiring board members will be recognized.
Board nominees include Earl L. Daniels, John K. Hoback, Garland Perry and Jerry M. Stephens.
