1,400 temp workers being hired in Shepherdsville

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. -- An agency is hiring 1,400 temporary workers for Amazon's warehouses in Shepherdsville in central Kentucky.

Kelly Services says the jobs pay $9 to $9.75 per hour, depending on the shift.

Recruiting manager David Rock told The Courier-Journal that health insurance and a 401(k) retirement plan are included. Rock says workers also receive a hot meal each shift and access to vending machines where items are free or cost 25 cents.

He says the jobs last up to six months but include the possibility of a permanent position with Amazon.

Interviews are being held in Shepherdsville.
