ONA -- A local subdivision will soon offer 25 lots to the Ona area along U.S. 60.
The Breckenridge Subdivision, a planned gated community, is under construction. Developer and contractor Scott Wheeler says that right now they are in the process of getting permits, but he hopes to begin excavation soon. The next step will be to install underground utilities followed by concreting streets. Wheeler says he hopes to begin building homes by late summer.
"I like to make the process of building a home easier for the customer and help guide them through the steps to make it stress free so they'll get what they want and still have a quality home," Wheeler said.
Located in Ona across from the Dollar General and the former Kiwana Vista Park, the subdivision will be a gated community with a walking and bike trail.
"The terrain is going to be really pretty," said Betty Sargent of Old Colony Realtors. "It'll be great for people who love the outdoors but don't want to leave the community."
According to Sargent, homes will start at $350,000 on lots ranging from a quarter acre to about half an acre. Site preparation is still the main concern, but a map of the projected subdivision should be ready within two weeks.
"I hope to create a nice neighborhood community that has a neat, clean and safe environment so people can be outside and enjoy their neighbors and just enjoy being home," Wheeler said.
