Cabell Huntington gets national honor for customer service
HUNTINGTON -- Cabell Huntington Hospital has been recognized as the 2008 Hospital of the Year for its customer service by the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers.
The organization selected more than 100 hospitals nationwide as "hospitals of choice" between June 2007 and July 2008. Cabell Huntington Hospital was later named one of 10 finalists, which received site visits, and became Hospital of the Year. The designation is based on customer friendliness.
The selection process also included reviewing public information such as Web sites, news releases, and announcements, and phone surveys of hospital staff and applications submitted for review.
Criteria included staff development and training, good citizenship, and performance management, according to Charles Shumaker, media relations manager for the hospital.
Shumaker said Cabell Huntington staff participate in ongoing customer service training opportunities through the hospital's "Circle of Service" program.
"Customer service is a big part of what we do," he said.
Brunt A. Marsteller, president and chief executive officer at Cabell Huntington Hospital, said the hospital was honored to have its commitment recognized with the award.
"At Cabell Huntington, we are proud of the service and care our patients receive every day and we are committed to maintaining our award-winning reputation as a customer-friendly hospital," he said.
