Valley Health welcomes two new physicians

HUNTINGTON -- Valley Health welcomes Dr. Luay Mousa and Dr. Aaron Scaife.

Mousa, a physician who specializes in internal medicine, will treat patients at the Valley Health -- Highlawn location and serve as a hospitalist to Valley Health inpatients at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Mousa will begin seeing patients Sept. 15, 2008.

Mousa completed his residency at Charleston Area Medical Center. Before he arrived in West Virginia to begin his medical career in the United States, Mousa lived and studied in Syria. He earned his M.D. from Damascus University School of Medicine, where he served as a primary caregiver through the National Union of Medical Students, an organization that provided free medical care to low-income people in his community.

Scaife is an obstetrician and gynecologist who performs surgical procedures and deliveries at Cabell Huntington Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital. Scaife started seeing patients July 1 under the umbrella of Valley Health at Valley Health -- Highlawn and Valley Health -- Ironton medical centers.

Scaife graduated magna cum laude from West Virginia University, then went on to earn a doctor of chiropractic at National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Ill. He opened a chiropractic office in Huntington before he began medical school at Marshall University School of Medicine. Scaife completed a residency in OB/GYN locally through Marshall University School of Medicine.

Scaife is available at Valley Health -- Ironton on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays and at Valley Health -- Highlawn on Thursdays.

Five attorneys named W.Va. Super Lawyers

Cabell Huntington adds two plastic surgeons

HUNTINGTON — Plastic surgeons Keith D. Pitzer, M.D., and Farid Mozaffari, M.D., have joined the Cabell Huntington Hospital Medical and Dental Staff and the Department of Surgery at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine.

Pitzer earned his medical degree from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine and completed a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Scott and White Hospital at Texas A & M University. He has a specific surgical interest post-bariatric contouring, cancer reconstructive surgery, breast surgery, aesthetic surgery, skin cancer surgery and facial rejuvenation.

Mozaffari earned his medical degree from Cambridge Medical Training Programme at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. He completed a general surgery residency at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University and a plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Ga. Mozaffari’s surgical interests include pediatric and craniofacial surgery, post-bariatric surgery, body contouring and aesthetic surgery.

Old Colony wins multi-production awards

HUNTINGTON — At a recent statewide sales rally for Old Colony, Realtors, 24 Realtors from the Huntington, Barboursville, Milton, and Proctorville offices won multi-production awards for 2007.

The sales rally was on June 25-26 at Canaan Valley Resort.

Those in attendance from Old Colony Realtors of Huntington were: Libby Adkins, Betty Sargent, Edward Rahal, Sherry Asbury, Debi Reynolds, Becky Myers and broker, Mark Mansour.
Sargent was inducted into the Old Colony Realtors Hall of Fame. She is one of only three Realtors that share that honor. Sargent also received an award for most units closed in the state with 112 units closed.

Rahal received an award for the largest volume production increase in the state from 2006 to 2007 with more than 15 million in production.
