Former managers take over W.Va. La-Z-Boy

MONROE, Mich. -- Two La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries stores in West Virginia recently changed ownership.

David Little and Kimberly Marion, former managers of the Barboursville and South Charleston stores, respectively, partnered to purchase the two La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries stores from Joel Downing in April.

"David and I are both really excited to buy these Furniture Galleries and keep up the tradition of these successful locally owned stores," said Marion in a press release. "We recognize the importance of keeping these stores in our state and are eager to continue providing comfort to our community."

Little has been with the company for 10 years and has 26 years of experience in furniture sales, while Marion has been with La-Z-Boy for more than three years and has 20 years of retail experience.

The stores celebrated their new ownership with a grand re-opening tent sale.

Sawmill, logging trade show set for May 2009

MORGANTOWN -- Organizers of SAWLEX, The Sawmill & Logging Expo, announces that the popular business-to-business trade show for the logging and sawyering industry will be May 29-30, 2009, at Mylan Park in Morgantown. The two-day event will feature demonstrations of timber harvesting and processing equipment, as well as outside static displays and demonstrations, inside exhibits, seminars and workshops. SAWLEX is sponsored by Independent Sawmill & Woodlot Management magazine.

The event will raise money for the WVU Children's Hospital through the Log-a-Load-for-Kids program.

Independent Sawmill & Woodlot Management magazine will also present two events during the expo. The Great Portable Sawmill Shootout, a head-to-head demonstration event with factory crews operating portable sawmills, will return to SAWLEX in 2009, as well as The Great Firewood Competition, a shoot-out for firewood splitting and processing equipment.

The exhibitors will display a full range of logging, transport, processing and sawmilling equipment, including feller-bunchers, harvesters, forwarders, log loaders and more.
