Tomblin promotes W.Va. in Europe
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin is on an investment mission to Europe. The 13-day trip began Oct. 10 and will conclude Oct. 22, including stops in Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
The governor will focus on strengthening relations with companies currently doing business in West Virginia, as well as building relationships with those considering investing in the state.
Last year, nearly one-third of West Virginia's $11.3 billion in exports went to Europe. More than 80 European companies have invested in West Virginia. These companies currently employ more than 10,000 West Virginians. Tomblin is the first West Virginia governor to visit France on a trade mission.
FINANCIAL STABILITY PARTNERSHIP: The Financial Stability Partnership of the River Cities will host a "Financial Fitness Friday" meeting on Oct. 18 at The Thai House Restaurant from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Meetings are the third Friday of every month. This month's topic is "Saving for the Future." Tracy Thompson, a professional investment adviser, will be the guest speaker. Experts will be on hand to answer questions and provide insight.
ACE HARDWARE: Kenny Queen Ace Hardware is opening its new location in Wayne in the former Builder's Supply building.
The store opens Friday, Oct. 18, but will have a grand opening event from Thursday, Oct. 24 through Saturday, Oct. 26.
SNAP FITNESS: Snap Fitness, a chain of 24/7 health clubs, is opening its newest location in Teays Valley. The club, which provides members with a special keycard that enables round-the-clock access, will be located in the physician plaza across from Sleepy Hollow Golf Club. Snap Fitness offers equipment featuring the latest technology in training along with free weights and personal training services.

BRIDGET'S DANCE ACADEMY: Bridget's Dance Academy will host a grand opening event at its new studio, located in the old Blockbuster building at 801 10th St. Sunday, Oct. 20 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
The dance academy specializes in a variety of styles including jazz, lyrical, hip hop, ballet, tap, contemporary, acro, and creative movement.
There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at the start of the Grand Opening Event. There will also be performances by Bridget's Dance Academy's award winning competition team, performing their show that they performed at Walt Disney World this summer, as well as a performance by Marshall University's Dance Team.
BDance Boutique, dance apparel retail shop located at Bridget's Dance Academy, will also hold a fashion show featuring all new merchandise available in the store.
