Jobless rate down in Cabell
HUNTINGTON -- The unemployment rate dropped in August for Cabell County and several other counties in the region.
WorkForce West Virginia this week released statistics that show the jobless rate in Cabell was 6.5 percent, down from 7 percent in July, and more than a point under the 7.6 percent posted in August 2011.
The rate also was down in Wayne County from 8.2 percent to 7.2 percent and in Mason County from 12.1 percent to 10.7 percent.
Statewide, the rate was flat at 7.2 percent for both July and August.
The lowest rate in the state was Jefferson County at 5.1 percent, and the highest was Boone County at 11.9 percent.
