HUNTINGTON -- A strong showing in Huntington's Fairfield West neighborhood helped incumbent David Felinton squeak by Cabell County Commissioner Bob Bailey on Tuesday to secure the Democratic nomination for mayor.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- For weeks, Democratic Senate front-runner Bruce Lunsford was pummeled by rival Greg Fischer for his stewardship of a troubled health care company and support for a prominent Republican.

Patty Verbage-Spence says she will seek re-election. The two-term magistrate retired March 31, amid serious health concerns and questions about her competency. She publicly withdrew from the race at that time, but her plans changed this week after unofficial results showed she won the Democratic Party's nomination.

CHARLESTON -- Anne Barth's Democratic primary victory in the 2nd Congressional District was just a few minutes old, but her mind was already on bigger challenges.

HUNTINGTON -- Two incumbents on the Cabell County School Board each secured another term in Tuesday's primary election. According to unofficial returns, Suzanne McGinnis Oxley topped all candidates with 9,704 votes, with current board president Ted Barr finishing second with 6,720 votes.

HUNTINGTON -- Nearly 1,100 more Cabell County voters went to the polls on Tuesday than in the last presidential primary election, officials said Tuesday night.

HUNTINGTON -- Democratic voters in Cabell County ousted two incumbent magistrates and nominated another who dropped out of the race earlier this year, according to unofficial results from Tuesday's primary.

HUNTINGTON -- Cabell County Assistant Prosecutor Jane Hustead will be the county's newest circuit judge, according to unofficial results from Tuesday's primary.

HUNTINGTON -- Susan Hubbard advanced to November's general election in landslide fashion Tuesday night, according to unofficial results from Tuesday's primary.
