QUESTION & ANSWER: What should the Legislature do to help West Virginia build an economy less reliant on extraction industries?

"First, I believe that extractive industries are hamstrung with regulations by an out-of touch and over-reaching federal EPA. Furthermore, I don't believe that we should be running from these industries, rather supplementing them by diversifying our economy in growth areas such as health care, biotechnology, and tourism-based businesses."

OTHER CANDIDATES: Stowers faces Democrat Jeff Eldridge and Republicans Gary L. Johngrass and Michel G. Moffatt for two open seats.
