HUNTINGTON -- The Herald-Dispatch and WSAZ NewsChannel 3 will sponsor a series of candidate forums next month for several contested races in the upcoming primaries and nonpartisan elections.
All three forums are hosted by Marshall University and begin at 7 p.m. in the university Student Center.
Here's the schedule:
School board, Thursday, April 10: The forum will include candidates for the non-partisan Cabell County Board of Education, including Jerry Brewster, Suzanne Oxley, Albert Clark, Larry Carrico, Garland Parsons, Nancy Newfeld, Ted Barr and George Watson. The forum takes place in the Alumni Room of the Marshall University Student Center.
Commission-sheriff-judge, Tuesday, April 22: This forum in the Don Morris Room of the student center will cover three different races. Those include the Democratic primary for Cabell County Commission, candidates Damon Holley and Susan Hubbard; the Democratic primary for District 6, Division 3, Circuit Judge, candidates Jane Hustead and Paul Ferrell; and the Democratic primary for Cabell County sheriff, candidates C.A. Adams, Herman Beckett, Scott Bias, Greg Lawson and Thomas McComas. The first two panels are expected to last 25 minutes each, with the sheriff's panel expected to take about 45 minutes.
Huntington mayor, Tuesday, April 29: This forum in the Don Morris Room will focus on the Democratic primary for mayor, and the candidates include David Felinton, Bob Bailey, Lucille Wight and Shawn Bresnahan.
The Herald-Dispatch and WSAZ NewsChannel 3 are also planning to sponsor forums in the fall for contested races in the General Election.
