Aug. 16, 2014 @ 12:00 AM

CHARLESTON -- Gov. Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential nominee in the 2012 election, has added his support to U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., Republican candidate for U.S. Senate; Evan Jenkins, Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, District 3; and Alex Mooney, Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, District 2.

District 3 includes Cabell, Wayne, Mason, Lincoln and Logan counties. District 2 includes Putnam and Kanawha counties.

"West Virginians have a clear choice in this election -- allow President Obama to continue killing coal jobs or fight back by electing pro-coal advocates Shelley Moore Capito, Evan Jenkins and Alex Mooney," Romney said in a news release.

"These candidates support the policies that will put West Virginia on a path toward economic prosperity, job-growth and freedom from Obama's overreaching policies that threaten West Virginia's way of life."

Romney will be campaigning with the candidates during a Working for West Virginia Jobs Rally in Beckley, West Virginia, at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19. The rally is in Ballroom A at Tamarack in Beckley.

RAHALL ENDORSED: U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall, D.-W.Va., Democratic candidate for U.S. House of Representatives, District 3, was endorsed by the Alliance for Retired Americans during a celebration of the anniversary of Social Security on Friday at the Beckley Convention Center in Beckley, West Virginia.

Alliance for Retired Americans President Barbara Easterling and Executive Director Rich Fiesta highlighted Rahall's strong commitment to protecting Social Security and his proven record of fighting for West Virginia seniors in the endorsement, according to a news release.

Following the celebration, Rahall opened his Beckley campaign office, located at 111 Main St.

CAPITO ENDORSED: The National Association of Women Business Owners has endorsed U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., in West Virginia's Senate race.

"We are pleased to announce Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito in her bid for U.S. Senate as one of the NAWBO endorsed candidates for 2014," Darla Beggs, NAWBO National Board Chair, said in a news release. "NAWBO has a long history of advocating on behalf of women entrepreneurs. It is exciting to be able to lend our endorsement to Congresswoman Capito."

The National Association of Women Business Owners is the voice of America's more than 9.1 million women-owned businesses representing the fastest growing segment of the economy.

MOONEY ENDORSED: The West Virginia Farm Bureau has endorsed Alex Mooney, Republican candidate for U.S. House of Representatives, District 2.

District 2 includes Putnam and Kanawha counties.

"Recent proposed EPA regulations threaten to control every facet of farming without making our lakes and streams any cleaner. Alex Mooney is exactly the fighter we need to stand up to this out-of-control, big government and protect West Virginia farmers," Charles Wilfong, president of the WV Farm Bureau PAC, said in a news release.
