NAME: Ted T. Barr
CANDIDATE FOR: Cabell County Board of Education District 4
STATEMENT: "Being a public servant, first as a police officer retiring as captain, then as your sheriff for eight years and finally as Cabell County Commissioner for 12 years has prepared me well for all aspects of serving on the Cabell County Board of Education. I believe that the functions and responsibilities of these offices have given me the knowledge and the wisdom necessary to assist the administration when called upon. One of my greatest assets, I believe, is my degree from Marshall University, having graduated cum laude. Additionally, in today's troubled schools, the training I received from the FBI National Academy (the West Point of law enforcement) lends itself to prepare me to assist and advise the board. Finally, in my service to the public I have accepted blame, never shame, but always cared for the people I served."
QUESTION & ANSWER: What role should technology play in school lessons?
"Our students need to be able to use technology but most importantly, they need to know when to use it. Technology is not the solution, it is a tool used to achieve the solution."
