Manchin speaks at DNC, calls for Dems to rally around Obama
DENVER (AP) — West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin is encouraging politicians to follow the state’s example to bridge partisan divides.
Manchin spoke during prime-time on Tuesday at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
The governor, running for his second term in office, highlighted some of the successful economic steps West Virginia has taken. Manchin said state leadership has produced a record number of new jobs, low unemployment and fewer taxes.
The chairman of the Democratic Governors Association said the nation can’t afford more of the same gridlock in Washington. Manchin urged collaboration to tackle education, transportation, health care and energy.
