HUNTINGTON -- Certification was completed Friday for two independent candidates running for Huntington mayor and another running for City Council's fourth district.

The candidates had a sufficient number of valid signatures on petitions and, therefore, will be on the general election ballot in November, assistant city clerk Kathy Torlone said.

Independents Tom McCallister and Robin Howell will join incumbent Democrat David Felinton and Republican challenger Kim Wolfe on the mayoral ballot. McCallister is a former District 2 city councilman. Howell is a Southside resident and has spearheaded beautification projects at City Hall and at Harris Riverfront Park.

In District 4, which represents much of Huntington's Southside, independent Curt McHaffie will join Democrat Brenda Adams and Republican Nate Randolph on the ballot. Mary Neely, the current District 4 representative, cannot run again because of term limitations.
