HUNTINGTON -- If financial reports determined the school board race, incumbent Suzanne McGinnis Oxley would win.

That's not what determines the race, but the financial reports give voters an idea of how many contributions each candidate received and what the candidates spent on their campaigns.

Oxley led the pack with $3,625 in contributions, spending $2,891.38 on campaign paraphernalia. Oxley's largest contributions came from Leon Oxley, $500, and Dorothy McGinnis, $300. Her remaining balance is $733.62.

Ted Barr, the current board president running for his third consecutive term, took in and spent $2,898.82. He had many small contributors to his campaign.

Former Cabell County superintendent Jerry Brewster raised $645.83, spending $408.10 on his campaign. His remaining balance is $237.73.

Albert Clark, a father and former youth coach, raised and spent $435.94

Nancy Newfeld, who is running for the lone District 4 seat, took in $1,725, $1,000 of which came from Mark Newfeld. She spent $1,223.51 on her campaign and has $476.49 remaining.

Garland Parsons raised $1,050, all of which came from Martha Parsons. He spent $1,031.38 on his campaign and has $18.62 remaining.

George Watson, running for the lone seat in District 5, funded his own campaign at a cost of $610.

The other District 3 candidate, Larry Carrico, did not turn in a financial report.

All finances were reported to the Cabell County Clerk's office by May 2.
