HUNTINGTON -- In the last day of early voting for the 2012 general election, West Virginia voters are on track to come in just below early voting totals for the 2008 election.

According to the West Virginia Secretary of State's website, 96,716 West Virginians had cast ballots during the early voting period, which ends today.

More than 153,000 people voted during the same period leading up to the 2008 general election, which accounted for almost 22 percent of all of the votes cast in that election. The early voting period has been shortened since then.

Approximately 758 ballots were cast in Cabell County Friday, bringing the total in the county to 6,044.

More than 17,000 ballots have been cast in counties surrounding Cabell: 1,722 in Wayne, 4,866 in Putnam 2,208 in Mason, 1,296 in Logan and 1,283 in Lincoln. In Cabell County, voters can cast an early ballot at two locations, as the Cabell County Sheriff's Field Office in Ona is serving for the first time as a satellite polling location. The satellite office and the Cabell County Courthouse will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 and Nov. 3 -- which is the last day for early voting. The courthouse is located between 7th and 8th streets and 4th and 5th avenues in Huntington. The satellite location is at 2726 Howell's Mill Road in Ona. The General Election is Tuesday, Nov. 6.
