January 25, 2012 @ 10:38 PM

HUNTINGTON  — With just three days left to file for candidacy for West Virginia’s May 8 primary election, nominees for state and local offices continued to trickle in Wednesday.

The race to become mayor of Huntington heated up as Democrats Carl Eastham and Jasper Black filed for candidacy.

In Cabell County, Republican J. Larry Crawford filed for a run at magistrate, and Democrat Chris Chiles filed for re-election as prosecuting attorney.
On the state level, Republican Allen Loughry filed to run for the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, and Republican Mike Davis filed to run for the District 16 House of Delegates seat.

Walt Helmick, a Democrat, became the latest candidate in hopes of succeeding Gus R. Douglass as West Virginia Commissioner of Agriculture, and Sheirl Fletcher, also a Democrat, filed to run for one of West Virginia’s U.S. Senate seats.
