Let's Eat provides healthy dining option in downtown

May. 09, 2013 @ 07:28 AM

HUNTINGTON — Let’s Eat is a new restaurant offering customers in downtown Huntington a variety of healthy sandwiches.

Lets Eat is the brainchild of Janet McCormick who first opened the shop in February. McCormick ran the Tea Room café in Proctorville, Ohio for 12 years before deciding to open a sandwich shop in Huntington.

“I decided to come here to Huntington to open a sandwich shop because Huntington is growing and a great community,” she said. “I was told how Heritage Station was starting to grow and attract crowds. I thought this would be an awesome place for a sandwich shop. I decided I wanted to do something a little different and offer a different variety of menu. This is fresh food made with fresh ingredients.”

Let’s Eat’s signature items are the “Naanada” sandwiches. A creation of McCormick’s, the “Naanada” is a flatbread sandwich similar to a Greek Pita or an Italian Piada served on Indian Naan bread.

“I like Naan better than Pita or Piada bread because it has a creamier texture,” she said. “You can eat the bread alone a and it tastes good. I decided if I made the Naan homemade and put it together with the different ingredients I could have a sandwich no one else has ever done. We try to use local ingredients from The Wild Ramp when we can.”

The shop’s Naanadas are all named for famous hotels and buildings in Huntington. Customers can enjoy “The Fredrick” made with marinated chicken in a signature sauce, feta, tomatoes, olives, peppers, onion, pasta, baby greens and pesto. There’s also a sandwich made with beef called “The Keith” and vegetarian sandwich called “The Morris.”  Rounding out the menu is a chicken salad croissant called “The Heritage” and a muffaletta called “The Old Main.”  All sandwiches sell for $6.99.

Customers can get an order of Naan bread with pesto or hummus for $4.50. There is a spinach side salad for $4.50 and for dessert, bread pudding ($4.50). Customers can also enjoy an Atena Greek Salad ($6.99) made with romaine lettuce, olives, peppers, onion, feta cheese and tomatoes with Italian Vinaigrette dressing. Let’s Eat also offers raspberry iced tea and cucumber infused water.

Let’s Eat is located at 210 11th St., at Heritage Station in Huntington. It is open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It is closed on Sundays but will be open for special events at Heritage Station like Party on the Patio.

Cash and all major credit cards are accepted. The shop will be offering deliveries to the downtown area in coming weeks. For carry-out or catering information, call 304-523-7631.
