Slyce serving up a wide variety of popular pizzas

HUNTINGTON -- Pizza certainly is popular in Huntington, even by college town standards.
Last year Z-Brick Oven, a popular pizza carryout spot in downtown Huntington expanded to a second location on U.S. 60. However, growing pains and frustration among the owners caused the restaurant to stop being affiliated with Z-Brick.
Today the pizzeria is under a new name, new management and a new owner. Called "Slyce Pizza Company," it's now partnered with a pizzeria in Charleston.
"I started here a little under a year ago as a pizza chef then worked my way up to manager," said Tiffany Hatfield, district manager. "When the Charleston location of Slyce opened up, I was promoted to district manager. The menu is remaining mostly the same aside from a few prices and name changes. As of now I think the menu offers a nice selection."
The pizzeria is also undergoing a bit of an makeover.
"We are currently putting up some new signs and redoing the windows," she said. "We had some carpeting that really needed to be replaced, so I've ordered some red and black checker tile that is going to go in. We are also putting in a television so our customers can watch games."
Slyce is known for a wide assortment of pizzas starting at $7.99 for a 12-inch cheese pizza to $13.99 for a 18-inch cheese pizza. Additional toppings range from $1 to $1.75 depending on the size of the pizza and include pepperoni, sausage, banana peppers, mushrooms and pineapple. Specialty pizzas are also available ranging in price from $12.99 for a 12-inch to $19.99 for an 18-inch. A popular specialty is the All Meat Pizza.
A number of different pastas are also available for carry-out or delivery such as the baked spaghetti ($7.99) and lasagna with Marinara or meat sauce ($6.99). There are also calzones made from pizza dough and stuffed with ricotta and mozzarella cheese ($7.49 small, $10.99 large).
Slyce also offers a selection of specialty sub sandwiches such as the stromboli, pizza bread or Philly Cheesesteak. All subs are available in 9-inch ($5.99) or 12 inch ($7.49) sizes.
Slyce Pizza company is located at 3482 U.S. 60 East in Huntington. It is open from 4 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday through Thursdays and from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Cash and credit/debit cards are accepted. The store only takes Visa and Mastercard at the moment, but it will start accepting Discover and American Express soon.
