This site was a favorite camping area for Shawnee and Cherokee Native American. The hiking trails offer several species of ferns, mosses, and lichens, the flowering rhododendron, "lizard head rock," and the unusual combination of beech-hemlock trees. Grayson Lake was a project of the Army Corps of Engineers. The Corps began construction on an earth and rock filled dam in 1964 to help control the flood waters of the Little Sandy River. The dam also improved the water quality of the area. The lake is filled with an abundance of bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, and trout. There are 74.2 miles of shoreline that has magnificent scenery. Some of the sandstone walls along the shore reach as high as 150 feet.
Greenbo hosting tractor show on Saturday The Herald-Dispatch urn:uuid:c7684219-2749-4ef7-8b3d-348eda626f77 2008-05-13T16:34:16-04:00
GREENUP, Ky. – Greenbo Lake State Resort Park will host a tractor show sponsored by the Greenup County Farm Bureau on Saturday May 17.
Gov.
