Wildlife Center hosts fall native plant sale
Frankfort, Ky. — Get expert advice and purchase beautiful native plants and wildflowers that can survive Kentucky’s hot, dry summers during the Salato Wildlife Education Center’s annual fall native plant sale in Frankfort on Saturday, Sept. 6
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can choose from among numerous native plants including favorites like the cardinal flower, purple coneflower, passionflower vine and many more. All plants are $5 to $6 each.
Wildlife prefers the food and shelter offered by native shrubs, wildflowers and grasses. These low-maintenance plants not only thrive in Kentucky’s climate and soil conditions, but they require less water than exotic species. Plant experts will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice on creating beautiful wildflower gardens. In addition, visitors can tour the Salato Center and see a few of Kentucky’s wildflowers in full bloom.
For more information call 1-800-858-1549, ext. 4445. Learn more about upcoming events at the Salato Center on the Internet at fw.ky.gov.
