Beech Fork State Park full of weekend activities

BARBOURSVILLE - Just about 10 miles south of Huntington, Beech Fork State Park has a host of activities set for this weekend.
 Here's a look at the schedule for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
 Friday
10 a.m. – Hike Long Branch Trail with Fred and let’s see how many songbirds we are able to identify.  Bring  a water bottle and wear comfortable shoes.
 1:30 p.m. – Slip and Slide with Fred.  Meet outside Campers Corner Store and be prepared to have fun.  Dress appropriately and bring plenty of sunscreen.
 8:30 p.m. – Night Hike with Fred along Nature Trail.  No flashlights allowed!  Comfortable shoes and bug spray are important.  Expect to be out an hour or so.
 Saturday, June 14
 10 a.m. – Stream Search with Fred.  We will meet at Moxley  Branch bathhouse and hike up Moxley Branch.  Along the way we will examine the stream and identify our little friends who live there.  Wear comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle and sunscreen.
 2 p.m. – Hike the Overlook Trail with Fred.  This hike is a little steep at first, but the view from the top is wonderful.  We will identify a few invasive species of plants.  Wear comfortable shoes and bring your water bottle.
 Noon - and throughout the afternoon, author Dave Lavender signing copies of the family-based travel book, "Dave Trippin: A Daytripper's Guide to the Appalachian Galaxy of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia" at the camp store.
 8:30 p.m. – Meet Fred at the campfire circle and let’s hike the Long Branch trail in the darkness.  We will be looking at the stars and trying to identify some of the constellations.  No flashlights allowed.

 Sunday, June 15
 10 a.m. - Folks are invited to attend local church service at nearby Davis – Bowen Church.  The church is two miles up the road on the left as you head towards Rt. 10.  If you pass Hughs Branch turn-off, you’ve gone too far. Sunday School starts at 10 a.m., and church at 11 a.m.
