'The Wiz' to be performed tonight through Sunday at Greenbo
GREENUP, Ky. — Red Lion Theatre Company presents “The Wiz” by Charlie Smalls and William F. Brown at Greenbo Lake State Park Amphitheatre, at 8:30 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, June 28.
Tickets are $12 and $10 for students and seniors.
“The Wiz” is a vibrant telling of L. Frank Baum’s “The Wizard of Oz,” with a few twists.
In this tale, Oz is a world full of munchkins, kahlidahs, poppies, ozians, winkies, witches (both good and evil), and the wizard! So, come on out to this bright, family friendly, colorful musical.
Starring Kameron Stambaugh as Dorothy, Kory Helmick as the Scarecrow, Tad Barker as the Tinman, Roger Hagley as the Lion, and Drew Adams as the Wiz.
That’s not all that’s happening this weekend at Greenbo, which has more than 3,000 acres to roam, a cool lake, great campground, tennis courts, mini-golf, giant pool with slides, amphitheater, great restaurant, boating, hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, you can see why people love Greenbo Lake State Resort Park.
On Saturday, the spacious park near Greenup, Ky., will sponsor a free Junior Fishing Tournament for anglers 15 years old and under. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the fishing tournament starts at 10 a.m. and lasts till noon. No fishing in boats is permitted.
Prizes will be awarded in each age group for the biggest fish caught and the most fish caught. Age groups are 3 – 5, 6 – 8, 9 – 12, and 13 – 15, for both boys and girls.
