Rio Grande, Ohio, home to the latest haunted corn maze
RIO GRANDE, Ohio — Area folks looking for a fun Halloween activity may feel like they’ve just stepped onto the sets of “Children of the Corn,” “Jurassic Park” and “The Blair Witch Project” all rolled together when they visit the MAiZE site in Rio Grande. The attraction is open daily through Oct. 31.
Still challenging visitors to discover the one exit from the twists and turns of the Geometric maze in Rio Grande, The MAiZE will provide some additional fun when it takes on a haunted twist beginning at dark Friday and Saturday nights, when your nightmares come to life.
This is not for the timid, you will scream, run for your life, maybe even wet your paints.
The Halloween makeover will cater to families during daylight hours and at night with the regular Maize, “Corn Cops” and holiday decorations throughout. But watch out...adventure seekers should prepare to be scared when they challenge the labyrinth at night. Adding to the natural spook of rustling stalks and unlit pathways, one phase of the two-phase puzzles will become a live horror show inhabited with wandering zombies, slithering snakes and other mysterious creatures.
The twists and turns will leave your heart pumping. Do you dare to walk the scariest field in Southeastern Ohio? If you think you’re too old to get scared of the dark, think again.
The MAiZE will remain open through October 31. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Thursday by reservation only., Friday from 6-10:30 p.m., and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sunday noon till 6:00pm. Daytime hours for field trips or large groups are also available by reservation. Cost is $6 for Regular corn maize and $7.00 for The Field of Screams do the combo ( both) for $11.50 , with discounts offered to groups over 20. The Maize is located at pleasant Valley Road, Rio Grande, Ohio.
