Get ready to rally

Here's a look at the upcoming Road Rally happening at Greenbo Lake and Carter Caves State Resort Parks.

WHAT: The Iron Furnace Road Rally. Designed and conducted by Scenic Road Rallies LLC of Sunman, Ind., these road rallies are family oriented events that feature a maximum of 50 street legal vehicles that participate in a scavenger hunt that is a bit like the TV show, "Amazing Race," but in a more casual manner.

WHEN: March 9-11.

RALLY PACKAGE: The package includes one night lodging (Sunday, March 9) at Greenbo Lake State Resort Park and one night lodging (Monday March 10) at the Carter Caves State Resort Park. The package also includes three nights of entertainment at the parks, dinner Sunday and Monday nights with an Awards Banquet and ceremony on Tuesday. Also, breakfast Monday and Tuesday and the road rally packet which includes directions, clip board, pen & scavenger hunt bag. Price is $343.79 per couple. WHAT TO BRING: You must be at least 18 years old to be a driver, possess a valid driver's license, bring proof of automobile insurance (both license and insurance must be within date), bottled water, a full tank of gas, at least one or more navigators and pack soft drinks and snacks for the drive. No alcoholic beverages, pets or hot rodding permitted. Consuming an alcoholic beverage before or during the rally will result in immediate disqualification and no refund.

SOUTHERN KY RALLY: A second road rally is the Rockhouse Bottom Road Rally on March 28-30, at Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park near Burkesville, Ky. This Rockhouse Bottom road trip includes a river crossing by way of a ferry, three historic churches built in the early 1800's, a Civil War encampment site, a 1920's general store still in use today, the first oil well in Kentucky, the amazing Rockhouse Natural Bridge, a chance to feed three-foot long trout at a fish hatchery, a drive across Wolf Creek Dam, amazing views of a spectacular waterfall, and drive on some country roads in the most beautiful parts of Southern Kentucky.
