Darren Jones: Capuzzo's 'Murder Room' incredible true page-turner
The set up for "The Murder Room" by Michael Capuzzo is simple and has been used in everything from books to movies.
Three of the world's finest sleuths, a former FBI agent, a forensic artist and an eccentric profiler who is thought of as the living Sherlock Holmes, invited the greatest minds on the planet to solve cold case murders over a hot lunch at an exclusive club. This is no fiction however; it is the true story of the Vidocq Society.
Named after a 19th century French detective whose adventures inspired the first detective novels, the trio of crime fighters travel the world to solve unsolvable cases. This book chronicles their hunt for the killers of a millionaire's son, a child killer who had gone unpunished for 50 years and more, because they can.
"The Murder Room" is an incredible slice of real life adventure led by a cast of the most inventive and unique minds in the world as they hunt down some of the most depraved and dangerous killers who had literally gotten away with murder.
Some stories are just too wild and crazy to not be true.
Darren Jones is the general manager at Empire Books and News at Pullman Square in downtown Huntington.
