Country crooners come to Charleston Civic Center

November 17, 2008 @ 10:25 PM

CHARLESTON -- Multi-platinum selling group Rascal Flatts will continue their "Bob That Head Tour," with a show on Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Charleston Civic Center.

Special guest Jessica Simpson will open the show, which begins at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $49.75 and $67 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations, www.livenation.com, the Charleston Civic Center ticket office or by phone at 304-342-5757 in Charleston and 304-523-5757 in Huntington.

Five studio albums into their career, the members of Rascal Flatts find themselves firmly atop the music world. Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney have scaled unbelievable heights in the eight years since their debut, and yet with the release of "Still Feels Good," they find their fortunes still rising. The CD's first No. 1 single, "Take Me There," was their fastest-rising ever.

They were the top-selling artist of 2006 -- in all genres of music. They scanned 5 million units, meaning that one of every 14 country CDs sold last year was a Rascal Flatts record. Their last CD, "Me And My Gang," sold more than 721,000 copies in its first week, leading the band to become the top-selling artist in all of music, the first time in 15 years a country artist achieved that milestone. Their 2006 tour played to more than a million fans in 74 cities, with 61 of those appearances sellouts. Rascal Flatts has also become one of the most consistently awarded acts in history, with their 2007 ACM Vocal Group of the Year award, their fifth, tying them with all-time super-group Alabama for most consecutive wins in that category.

Simpson's multi-Platinum pop success introduced her to countless fans, but country was where she found her heart. The release of her Epic/Columbia Nashville debut country album, "Do You Know," was met with a resounding cheer, debuting at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and launching Jessica's first country hit, "Come on Over." It's one of eight songs she co-wrote for the album, which also includes the single, "Remember That," and the title track, featuring friend and hero, Dolly Parton.
