Bob Thompson travels the Tri-State
HUNTINGTON -- If you like great live jazz, you hit the Lotto this weekend and next. West Virginia's own Bob Thompson has got his piano and will travel. Here's a look at a few upcoming gigs.
Friday: Thompson is live at The V Club, 741 6th Ave., Huntington. Doors open at 8 p.m. Cover is $7. Go online at www.vclublive.com or www.myspace.com/wvvclub.
Sunday: Thompson is behind the piano as Mountain Stage celebrates its 25th anniversary with a special, sold-out show at Cultural Center Theater in Charleston. The live show features Kathy Mattea, Joan Osborne, Rachael Yamagata, and world-class, homegrown superpickers, Johnny Staats and Robert Shafer.
Doors at the Cultural Center Theater in Charleston open at 6:30 and the show begins at 7 p.m. Go online at www.mountainstage.org or stop by Taylor Books in downtown Charleston.
Thursday, Dec. 11: Tickets for West Virginia Public Broadcasting's 16th annual Joy to the World holiday concert with Bob Thompson, featuring guest vocalist Dwight Lenox, are on sale now. Advance tickets are available by calling 1-800-594-8499 (TIXX), or through the West Virginia Public Broadcasting Web site at www.wvpubcast.org. Advance tickets are $20.50, plus a service charge. If there are still tickets available the night of the show they will be $25 at the door. The show will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Cultural Center Theater in Charleston. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
