HUNTINGTON -- Spring is finally here and what better way to spend it than outdoors?
That's just what Holderby's Landing is hoping to help you with. Opened in February of 2005, the club features two decks, an inside dining area and three bars as well as an outside stage, and a brand new food menu. Holderby's Landing is hoping to become a major night spot in the Huntington scene.
Located at 1360 Harris Park Dr., directly off Veterans Memorial Boulevard and through the 12th Street Flood Wall. Many people miss the restaurant, which is floating out in the Ohio River on a barge. Just turn into Harris Riverfront Park and drive to the right end, there's plenty of room to park, and then it's just a short walk on a bridge.
The club, whose mission statement is "the time to be happy is now, the place to be happy is here, the way to be happy is to make others so" prides itself on having a relaxed atmosphere and many different forms of entertainment. The inside bar is decorated with tropical plants that are rotated throughout the decks and watered with a ceiling irrigation system to maintain their look. There are many fish tanks and large screen TVs.
The front deck is 230-feet long and features a large stage with a huge sound system perfect for bands. The inside bar features an area for acoustic performers, while the back bar features tables and a more relaxed setting to talk quietly with friends. The food is made by two chefs, Andrea Hankins and Brad Fitzwater.
In the spring, the club is open 5 p.m. until late. Once summer starts, the club will open during afternoons on weekends. Live music has been booked Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays for the next 23 weeks. There are Happy Hour specials on food and drinks from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
Holderby's Landing has also teamed up with Clear Channel to have a Wednesday Night Wind Down weekly featuring music and games with prizes like three-night/two-day condo stays at Smith Mountain Lake and Snowshoe, as well as specials for Yacht Club members.
