Got walls, got art

Here's a look at some other cool art exhibits up right now in the region:

Renaissance Art Gallery: Gary Taylor's latest show, "Transit" is art all inspired by riding the bus system in Huntington. The show has a reception at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at the gallery, at 900 8th St. Huntington (the old Huntington High School).

Highlands Museum: "Freedom's Struggle: The Underground Railroad along the Ohio River," a black and white photographic display by Willie Johnson of 30 images chronicling the use of the Ohio River in Kentucky and Indiana as a road to freedom at the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center, 1620 Winchester Ave. Ashland. Birke Art Gallery: The Birke Art Gallery in Marshall University's College of Fine Arts hosts "Adnate," a two-person exhibition of works by Drew Goerlitz and Ali Della Bitta. Runs through Thursday, Feb. 7. Free.

Avampato Discovery Museum: "Rite of Spring," a new installation by Chris Dutch and Robin Hammer. Inspired by Igor Stravinsky's monumental composition "The Rite of Spring" with a stage set showcasing three-D life-size figures and elements of nature from wood, glass and metal. Through March 30.

Huntington Museum of Art: " Blenko: West Virginia's Gift to the World," features more than 100 pieces of the world-famous Blenko Glass that's been handblown in Milton, West Virginia since 1921. Through May 4. Also, "Painting the Beautiful: American Impressionist: Paintings from the Michener Art Museum Collection."

Claypool-Young Art Building: Morehead State University exhibit, "Self-Evident: Contemporary American Self-Portraiture." Reception is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20. Call (606) 783-5446.
